A, For our film we have used a number of common media features for example; the 180 degree rule and also following continuity while filming and editing. This made our film a success because we followed the common conventions of standard film making. Also we used our main theme of thriller thought out our short film so we could use some main film features to make our film better and more interesting for example we used fast editing for the murder scenes to make them more exciting and intense. This effect worked really well and made these particular scenes more jumpy and aggressive. We also used lighting to represent different things in our film, for example we used lighting to represent the more dominant figure in the scene and also to show which the darker character is. i also believe the locations and costumes we choose worked really well too as they all fit in with the scenes we were trying to create. The fact we only used one location througthout our film maked it easier for us to film and also was easier for us to plan where we would be filming and also where we could place the chameras to get the best effect.

B. For our film we decided to focus on the genra of thriller. I believe we stuck to the genre throught out the films as we have some key features of a thriller film. for example we have a number of exciting and aressive murder sences which will make the audiance jump and want to whats going to happen next. We have all played with how we edited our film to making it fit to our genre more. for example we played with the sound to make some sences more loud and gramatic where as others are quite and more sinister. we have also added different songs to fit with each sence to make more interesent. the music we choose also fits which our genra of thriller because some soungs are slow and dramatic whereas others have loud parts which get peoples attention and stand out. As a typical thrillar contains fast exciting sences aswell as a twisted storyline i believe we have succesfully stuck to a typical thriller storyline. I also think we stuck to the thriller storyline as it is something that could happen to really people, also the fact that at the end of the film it shows him asking for more room mates makes people wonder if he will kill again or if he will get found out.
C I don’t believe our films parody or pastiche any of the codes in a thriller as it sticks to the common aspects of a traditional thriller. We didn’t want are film to have any aspects of any other films so we intentionally tried to keep away from referencing towards any other films. We did this because we wanted our own film to be believable and not be a copy of any other. We believes by linking are film or using ideas from other films would make our film less believable and the audience wouldn't just watching it for the storyline it has but would compare it to the other film, and we didn’t want that.
D I believe are film as a lot of audience pleasers and factors that make it more interesting for the audience. I believe we created a successful five minuet thriller film that has many aspects or a traditional thriller that would please an audience. For example I believe altering our pace of editing to make it faster and more jumpy made the film more interesting and I believe would make the audience want to know what was going to happen next. I also think the murder scenes would please the audience are they are exciting and look realistic as our actresses did actually throw themselves down the stairs and put their heads underwater. I believe this made it more interesting for the audience as the reactions were real making the audience actually believe the scene.I also believe that the audience got pleasure from the fact that the film was realistic and could actually happen to real people. This makes it easier for audience to get entertainment from the film, they can relax and forget about their own lives and focus on what’s happening on the telly. The audience could also get integration and social integration as the film is something they could watch with their friends and also tell others about, so more people would watch it.
E, The Roommate
The Roommate is a film that is similar to our storyline as it is about friendship, jealousy and murder. These are some of the main features of our film. The main character is Sara Mathews who is starting her freshman year at college. She immediately befriends her roommate Rebecca and thinks she is a normal nice girl. As time goes on, Rebecca becomes obsessed with Sara who causes her to become increasingly violent and she tries to drive away anyone who could come between them. Although this film isn’t about a boyfriend jealous over his girlfriend’s friends, I still think it links well as her roommates doesn’t like her being with anyone else and want her all to herself just like in our film.
Even though the villain in our film is a man and in 'The roommate' a woman I still think they share some similar qualities. Both characters are obsessed with another person who they want to themselves and gets jealous of others being with her or getting to close with her. Both characters share the same sadistic trait that they would kill anyone that would want to get close to the person they want. Also at the end of both films the villain are willing to kill the girl there obsessed with rather than anyone else them. Although in out film the villain actually succeeds in killing her I still think this is a similarity that they both try to kill them.
I believe this film as lots of similarities to ours and this films audience would probably be the same to the one we chose for our own film. Also the fact the film is called 'The Roommate' and it is actually about one roommate getting obsessed with another fits with our own storyline really well as ours is about a boy murdering his two roommates. Although not all aspects of the film fit with ours, like the fact the villain dies at the end. I believe our film ending is better as the audience will wonder what is going to happen to him and if he is going to get away with murdering the two girls.
Both killers
